Paulette Rees-Denis, the Director of the Gypsy Caravan Dance Company, International will be in Toronto for 2 days this September presenting workshops on tribal bellydance technique.
The world renowned The Gypsy Caravan Dance Company, International is a contemporary tribal bellydance troupe. Lead by Paulette the troupe’s signature tribal styling is a fusion of several influences based on dances from different countries and modern day—urban, folk, ritual and trance, modern, among others. This rich blend of contemporary movement, based on a common non-verbal language and group improvisation, is aesthetically pleasing, spiritually grounding, and physically rewarding.
Paulette has over 25 years of teaching, dancing, and music to share with us! The Serpentina North Ensemble will be hosting her on her first trip to Toronto this September to give two days of workshops. There will be a total of eight hours of dancing at The Dark Side Studio in Kensington Market. The topics will be Traditional Gypsy Caravan Tribal Technique and Tribal Grooves-Funky Bits. There is an early bird rate (by August 20th) for the full weekend, $160, or just one day, $90 for four hours of dancing. Registration is available through the Serpentina North Ensemble website.
